2. Take in the fall foliage at Fontenelle Forest

On your way out of the big city, you can stop at Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue. The beautiful trees start changing colors in September through late October. Take a short hike through any part of the 17 mile-trail system and soak up the wonderful fall foliage. You might even spot some wild geese or ducks on their annual migration.

3. Pick apples at Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard

On the drive from Omaha to Nebraska City, you’ll find numerous orchards in Nebraska’s apple country. Make a quick stop at the Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard and explore one of the oldest orchards in the region.
