About Us

Founded in 1927, Hastings Museum is the largest municipal museum between Chicago and Denver. Featuring a theatre with a 70-foot wide screen and large domed planetarium, we house dozens of animal species set in their natural habitats, allowing you to get an up close look at many amazing creatures!

We also chronicle the history of the early inhabitants of the Nebraska plains, from paleo-Indians to euro-Americans, while providing a look back at the creatures that used to roam this area and swim in Cretaceous Sea. Of course you'll also discover how Kool-Aid, the famous soft drink invented in Hastings, came to be such a success.

Hastings Museum, accredited by the American Association of Museums, connects people to the world – and universe – through educational programs, exhibits and films, and inspires greater public respect for and understanding of our past and future.

We only viewed the Kool-Aid exhibit- which was deeper than we were expecting. Fun!

We are far from home visiting a child. We needed stuff to do. Thank you for being one of the few places. We spent an entire day here. Firstly they do not have any food to eat. Just popcorn and candy for the imax. Which is fine we just didn't know- now u do so plan accordingly. Although no outside food or drink allowed in. 3 levels of cool stuff to look at. They had several interactive kid areas. We watched the 3D Amazon movie. I loved that the planiterium was included. Wish it would had been better explained that we could enjoy both shows bc I'd of gone to them all. The lady doing it was knowledgable. The staff was very nice and helpful. Not geared for real little kids in my opinion but my 5 and 7 year old had fun.

Wonderful displays of specimens; we especially loved the guns exhibit and the kool-aide history. What an informative visit. More people should know about this place. Fair price, friendly staff, clean.

I have always enjoyed this museum. I have been here many times for the past 20 years or more. I live in Arizona now and I recently stopped in while visiting family and friends and was very happy with my visit. Very friendly staff and clean museum! Great exhibits for all ages!
