The Perfect Fall Road Trip in Nebraska!

As the weather cools down and the leaves start changing, you can partake in one of the best fall activities in Nebraska—a road trip! There’s nothing better than enjoying the fall traditions and absorbing the beautiful foliage Nebraska has to offer. If you’re unsure where to explore, then follow this itinerary for the perfect fall road trip from Omaha to Nebraska City.

Fontenelle Forest, Bellevue, NE

On your way out of the big city, you can stop at Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue. The beautiful trees start changing colors in September through late October. Take a short hike through any part of the 17 mile-trail system and soak up the wonderful fall foliage. You might even spot some wild geese or ducks on their annual migration. 

Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard, Nebraska City, NE

On the drive from Omaha to Nebraska City, you’ll find numerous orchards in Nebraska’s apple country. Make a quick stop at the Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard and explore one of the oldest orchards in the region. The Kimmel Orchard offers more than 40 acres of u-pick crops so you can even pick your own apples.

The Keeping Room, Nebraska City, NE

This quaint spot in downtown Nebraska City is the perfect place to grab lunch when you make it to Nebraska City. The Keeping Room is a cafe with an adjoining gift shop where you can explore a treasure trove of unique finds after you grab a bite to eat. Just don’t forget to order dessert! From pies to sundaes, everything is made from scratch and delicious.

Arbor Day Farm, Nebraska City, NE

Located on 260 acres of natural beauty, the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City offers outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy. For the more adventurous travelers, you can climb trees or discover wooded trails. For a more relaxing option, relish in the simple pleasures of nature and explore the flavors of the orchards, wines, and unique gift shops.

Eagle Hollow Scream Park, Eagle, NE

When the sun goes down, go to nearby Eagle for a good scare. Tickets for the Eagle Hollow Scream Park will get you into three haunted attractions, or you can enter the grounds for a lower price and just enjoy the fire pits and concessions.
