Ponca - Ponca State Park

88090 Spur 26 East

Situated in the picturesque Missouri River bluffs in northeastern Nebraska, Ponca State Park is the eastern gateway to the 59-mile section of the Missouri National Recreational River, one of two picturesque, unchannelized stretches of the river bordering Nebraska.

One of Nebraska's most visited state parks, Ponca State Park is popular for its forested hills, scenic vistas, great wildlife watching, Missouri river access and beautiful and varied lodging options. During the spring months, the wetlands at Ponca State Park are a popular layover spot for many migrating bird species, and the park draws many bird watchers. The park offers many seasonal activities, including guided bird tours during the spring, naturalist events and family activities during the summer, haunted hayrack rides complete with local actors and impressive props during the fall and its nationally famous Fruitcake Fling each winter. Comfortable lodging, unique events and sweeping views of the river have made Ponca state park a popular destination for all types of family gatherings, from family vacations to weddings.

AMAZING! We stayed in the Bald Eagle lodge and oh my gosh, so well worth EVERY penny!! Sleeps 8 in beds and has an amazing living room/dining room/kitchen set up and they allow dogs for one flat fee. Will never go anywhere else to get away, it's a 5 hour drive for us and I would make it any day for such amazing lodging. So many trails, amazing views and fantastic, helpful staff! I would say the only "downside" (if you can even call it that) is you have to pay for your own firewood, they provide literally everything else in the cabin (pots/pans, pillows, blankets, towels, silverware, drinkware, plates and bowls, a grill with propane, tea kettle, coffee machine w/coffee) this place is by far the best I've ever been and the price really can't be beat for all that you get! I would happily sell my home to live in this amazing slice of heaven ❤

This is such an amazing park. When I drive in, I usually turn off my stereo and roll down my windows just so I can feel the park. It's a magickal place. We had many Pagan gatherings there, honoring the perfection of nature, and the depth of spirit to be found there. There's good facilities, nice trails, and an impressive visitor center. I really like the sculpture midway between the entrance and the visitor center.

We spend a lot of time in the park fishing, hiking playing on the play ground and enjoy the outdoor expo. The people that work at the park do a great job and do not get the credit they deserve. The only thing I would like to see them do is put a fish cleaning station by the boat ramps.

We have stayed here over the years and love it as much now as we did the first time. The cabins are super nice and up to date. All the stuff in the park make this a perfect get away.

We've been camping here for many years. We decided to do Christmas in one of the new cabins and it was great. 4 bedrooms with double beds, 2 bath, kitchen, fireplace
