Situated in the picturesque Missouri River bluffs in northeastern Nebraska, Ponca State Park is the eastern gateway to the 59-mile section of the Missouri National Recreational River, one of two picturesque, unchannelized stretches of the river bordering Nebraska.

One of Nebraska's most visited state parks, Ponca State Park is popular for its forested hills, scenic vistas, great wildlife watching, Missouri river access and beautiful and varied lodging options. During the spring months, the wetlands at Ponca State Park are a popular layover spot for many migrating bird species, and the park draws many bird watchers. The park offers many seasonal activities, including guided bird tours during the spring, naturalist events and family activities during the summer, haunted hayrack rides complete with local actors and impressive props during the fall and its nationally famous Fruitcake Fling each winter. Comfortable lodging, unique events and sweeping views of the river have made Ponca state park a popular destination for all types of family gatherings, from family vacations to weddings.

Love this park. Just enough terrain and close to home. Super nice campsites on eagle ridge and more by the river. They added the pool which is super nice. And my favorite is still their luxury cabins! Lots of nice trails to hike

This is a BEAUTIFUL park! Lots of activities for children & adults alike. The cabins have wifi - which was nice with very spotty cellular reception. If camping is more your style, there are camp sites for every style: with/ without electrical, near/far from facilities & civilization. It is a wonderful place to unwind & get in touch with nature πŸŒ³πŸ•πŸ›Άβ›Ί

Ponca State Park was a very nice place to stay. They had many fun activities and the pool was very nice. The whole family loved Archery and Horseback Riding. Also, the cabins that we stayed in were very clean and the beds were very comfortable.

First, this park is beautiful. For families it has everything needed for a great vacation. Golf, miniature golf, Aquatic Center, camping, cabins, horseback riding, firing range, boat ramps, fishing sites, an education cwnter, and trails. Why the four stars then? I like to hike when I travel, I personally think Nebraska, as a whole, needs to clear trails off a bit more. I have hiked all over Missouri, parts of Nebraska, Iowa, Oregon, and Arizona. I think Nebraska leaves too much growth on their trails. Overall I can't think of another park I have been to in Nebraska that is better for families than this one. Perhaps E.T. Mahoney is close to this one in activities, but the wonderful oak trees in this park add special charisma to the sites here.

Great staff, great park, all together great place. Only suggestion is the aquatic center is a little pricey. Maybe come up with a 3 day pass for average length of stays.
